Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, has been dubbed as an “underachiever” by the TIME magazine. Three years ago, it is the same weekly that had called Dr Singh the man who changed millions of lives for better. The magazine further said that the voters too are losing confidence, as rising inflation and a litany of scandals chip away at the government’s credibility.
However, Congress defended Manmohan Singh saying what the UPA has achieved under his leadership is by no stretch of imagination “under achievement”.
On its part, the BJP attacked the PM calling him “an honest prime minister of the most corrupt government”. BJP leader Tarun Vijay said the same US magazine had lauded the performance of its partymen and Gujarat CM Narendra Modi.
