After the unfortunate incident of blast in one of the Ganesh pandals the irresponsibilities of organizers have come out. Most of the pandals in the city have failed to procure no-objection certificates (NOCs) from the fire, estate and health departments.
According to authorities, the pandal organisers are supposed to take permission before setting up pandals.
Chief Fire Officer M F Dastur said, “We give permission only if the norms specified by us are followed. People feel that the inspection conducted by cops and their permission is enough. But that isn’t true. There are several risk factors that have to be taken into consideration, especially in pandals that have special effects. If we don’t get a request for NOC, we assume the person has not set up the pandal.”
