On Thursday Gujarat CM Narendra Modi and Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar were on the same dice as they gathered to launch ‘Mission Milk’.
Narendra Modi took a dig at Central Government by saying that
The Delhi sarkar is trying to promote a Pink Revolution. It is taking steps to promote mutton export. The subsidy given for mutton export is even bigger than Rs 2,242 crore – the financial outlay for National Dairy Plan. The official documents of Government of India suggest this. If this policy continues, no matter whatever efforts are made, cattle will be cut instead of being used for milk production. This is a big trouble,” said Modi, adding that another big trouble was smuggling of cows from India to Bangladesh.

Later Sharad Pawar counter it by saving that there has been no new amendment to the mutton export policy by UPA government.

No End to farmers’ miseries though ban on cotton export is lifted

First there was a ban by Central Government on export of cotton which was followed by a strong protest with strikes in market yard and also with closed down of ginning mills. Because of this both political parties tried to play politics on this. At last Junagadh MP, Viththal Radaria gave a consolation that the CCI will purchase cotton from farmers at Rs. 900 per quintal.
However, no officer of CCI was seen in Rajkot and Gondal. Similar situation was seen in Botad of Bhavnagar, where farmers brought stock of 65,000 quintal cotton on 750 vehicles. But CCI did not bought cotton from here as well and the farmers had to even pay the rents of the vehicles they brought. Hence whoever gets benefit from this politics of cotton, it is the farmer who is suffering at the end of the day.
