The jewelers are on strike in protest of increase in excise and custom duty in the Budget. The Jeweler’s Association has extended their strike for two more days and this time more than 50,000 Bengali workers has also joined with them. The jewelers have also said that if their demand will not be met than they will approach to Delhi. They have also decided to sent telegram and post cards from entire state to Finance Minister and Prime Minister.

With increase in the tax in the latest budget, houses have become costlier for people. The service tax on real estate has increased to 12%. Also the excise duty has increase from 10% to 12%. All this will lead to an increase in the cost of houses.

After the common budget now authorities has indicated that the price of petrol and gas cylinders will also increase and due to increased excise duty on gold jewellery, traders are about to increase the rates of gold jewellery. Hence common man is going to be affected with this increases drastically.
