Eunuchs asked for cast certificate on the grounds of equality as per the Indian Constitution. In the caste certificate there is either male or female the eunuchs has to select any one of them. A drive is started by Lakshya Trust of this caste certificate. For this the trust has demanded for caste certificate by the chairman of Sayaji Hospital. Eunuchs complained that because of lack of caste certificate they do not get the advantage of BPL card, Election card, and other government schemes.
The hospital authority and law department and Forensic department has started working towards this. On the basis of genetic study their caste will be decided.
There are 225 eunuchs in Vadodara, 1200 in Ahmedabad, 60 in Rajkot and 1000 in Surat. The eunuch community says that with the help of this certificate difference between original and fake eunuchs can also be made.
