New rail projects increaseses troubles of farmers, Ahmedabad


Indian and Japanese government has planned new rail project for transportation. This project has bring plenty of problems for farmers of kalol because railway department has asked for farming land for the project so that farmers have asked for land for farming or give proper compensation for land. farmers have knocked the door of High Court to save their land so now just have to see that what would be the high court’s decision.

Villagers creates ruckus at University, breaks furniture, Dehgam


In Dehgam villagers created ruckus in Raksha Shati University. The residents of Lavad village in Dehgam Taluka have threatened to take possession of the land allotted to Raksha Shakti University on August 9. They attacked the office and destroyed furniture. Government is facing stiff resistance from the farmers for allotting grazing land to Raksha Shakti University.

Farmers in worry as prices of animal fodder rises


Farmers condition has became more pathetic. the big pathos is that at one side monsoon is down this year and the other side sabar dairy has increased 80rs per gunny of animal fodder which is biggest problem for farmer to survive in this dearness.Earlier price of animal fodder was 718 rs and now it is 798rs. sabar dairy gives reason that due to price hike of Raw Material,animal fodder’s price has rises.

State Govt. helps farmers due to delayed monsoons, Gandhinagar


As a result of late monsoons the farmers are upset as they may or may not get sufficient water to grow their crops. Hence, State Government has decided to provide power supply for 10 hours instead of 8 hours for irrigation, which is a good news for the farmers.
This will help the farmers to a great extent.

June month ended, farmers still awaits for rains, Jamnagar


June month has ended and there is no sign of rains yet. Farmers who already have sowed seed in their farms and now due to lack of rain they fear that their farms will get withered.
Plantation is already done as part of pre monsoon activity.
If the rains will be more delayed than it will be a major problem for everyone.
The situation is worse in Jamnagar city. Talking about the irrigation facility of this city than the quantity of the stored water in such that it can last only till 15 July. If the rains will be delayed than corporation will have to cut off water to solve the problem.

Mango Festival to spread awareness among people, Junagadh


A unique mango festival was held at Surajgadh of Sasan in order to spread awareness among people. More than 80 varieties of mangoes were there in this festival. 108 farmers from Gujarat, Rajasthan, Maharashtra and various other states of India participated in this festival and presented unique variety of mango of their state.

National and international mango experts were also present in this festival and expressed concern about the extension of varieties of mangoes.

People were amused at the very sight of different kind of mangoes and many mango farm owners were also present in this festival who took tips from the present farmers. The festival will continue for 3 days and has became center of attraction for everyone.

Dam dried up due to irresponsibility of authority, Banaskantha


One of the doors of Dantiwada dam was damaged since last many years. Because of this large amount of water was wasted and the authority did not care about repairing the door. Interestingly, before two months Tv9 highlighted the issue after which the Mamlatdar gave investigation orders.
Now the dam has dried up and technical team in surveying the dam and the officials are ensuring that work process of making 4 new doors have started. The entire work will cost 20 lac rupees and it will be completed in 2 months.
But because of the irresponsibility of authorities a large amount of water has waster and this dam provided water to farmers of 130 villages. If this year monsoon will not be good then the farmers will face a great problem for irrigation.

Fair in which one can buy bullocks, Panchmahal


A fair is organized in Panchmahal in which bullocks are sold. The bullock pairs are starting from 5,000 – 40,000 are sold. Farmers from various villages both within and outside the State arrives to buy the pair of bullock.
Interestingly, money is exchanged under a handkerchief so that nobody else can come to know about the amount in which a pair of bullock is sold.
In the time of tractor the demands of bullocks have not decreased.

No End to farmers’ miseries though ban on cotton export is lifted


First there was a ban by Central Government on export of cotton which was followed by a strong protest with strikes in market yard and also with closed down of ginning mills. Because of this both political parties tried to play politics on this. At last Junagadh MP, Viththal Radaria gave a consolation that the CCI will purchase cotton from farmers at Rs. 900 per quintal.
However, no officer of CCI was seen in Rajkot and Gondal. Similar situation was seen in Botad of Bhavnagar, where farmers brought stock of 65,000 quintal cotton on 750 vehicles. But CCI did not bought cotton from here as well and the farmers had to even pay the rents of the vehicles they brought. Hence whoever gets benefit from this politics of cotton, it is the farmer who is suffering at the end of the day.

New Kisan Bazar opens at Gurukul where people can get fresh farm vegetables directly from the farmers and that too at 40% lesser rates than the market. There wont be any middlemen in this market, the farmers of nearby villages will directly be able to sell their grown vegetable to the people.
