In 1925 during British period a school was made to provide education to kids in Kubernagar of Ahmedabad.
During the 2001 earthquake this school was damaged to a large extent. Hence the working of the school was stopped for repairing the building. But with time the school was not repaired and gradually it was converted into Kubernagar police chowky. Also a surveillance squad office has also been developed.
As a result of this, the members of Chhara Community are complaining that as this was the sole medium of education for their kids, they are deprived of education and this is forcing them to get involved in criminal activities. People appeal to reopen a school once again.
On the other hand police officials defend themselves by saying that the chowky in the area is a necessary because anti-criminal activities are in large number here.
