Bal Thackeray’s health critical brings Mumbai to a stand still since last night


Over 5,000 anxious Shiv Sainiks from Mumbai, Thane and other parts of the state trooped to Bandra east awaiting a word on their beloved leader’s health, Bal Thackeray, last night. The 86-year-old Thackeray has been suffering from breathing problems and has been occasionally put on oxygen.

All roads leading to ‘Matoshree’ were also barricaded and even some party leaders had to abandon their vehicles near the Western Express Highway and walk the short route to the Thackeray household.
Balasaheb’s son and Sena executive president Uddhav Thackeray, his nephew and MNS chief Raj Thackeray, and other relatives were at his bedside. Shiv Sainiks, including senior Sena leaders Manohar Joshi, Sanjay Raut and Subhash Desai, made a beeline to Matoshree on learning about the Sena chief’s health.

The Shiv Sainiks were there from 8pm to 2am. Uddhav stepped outside the Thackeray home ‘Matoshri’ briefly around 2am to address the massive crowd of anxious party activists who gathered there since late Wednesday.

Accompanied by son Aditya, Uddhav appealed to the people to “remain calm and maintain peace” and ensure that the image of ‘Matoshri’ is not spoiled.

“The team of doctors is continuing their efforts….Balasaheb’s self-determination is very strong. We are facing a crisis, we shall overcome,” Uddhav assured his supporters.

Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan also reached Motoshree by 12:30 am. Due to the huge crowd over there they even sustained a bit of cuts. Apart from these many other leaders, actors and other prominent personalities reached Matoshree to see Bal Thackeray.

Uddhav Thackeray slams Digvijay for his claim that Thackerays hailed from Bihar


Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh said the Thackeray family itself belonged to Bihar and had settled in Dhar in Western Madhya Pradesh from where they migrated to Mumbai. Digvijay said “If you look at the history of Mumbai, then it is a city of fishermen. Rest all have settled there from outside.”
He said that he had a book written by Prabodhankar Thackeray, grandfather of Uddhav Thackeray, and it is written in the book that the Thackeray’s hails from Bihar.

To this, executive president of the Shiv Sena, Uddhav Thackeray said that, “What my grandfather has written does not refer to my family, but to the entire Thakre community which lives in Bihar,”
Uddhav Thackeray went on to say that Digvijay is a ‘madman’ and that ‘he was busy washing dishes for and Italian’ hence he has lost ability to think’.

More than 45 injured in the Azad Maidan violence, Mumbai


Protest that was going on against the recent Assam riots and genocidal acts against Muslims in Myanmar turned violent. Till now more than 45 people are injured in this protest at Azad Maidan of Mumbai.
A state of high alert was issued throughout Mumbai ans protest got violent and the protestors started attacking policemen and mediapersons. In all, 11 vehicles, including three OB vans, were set afire.
The police resorted to lathi charge, lobbed tear gas shells and fired in the air to disperse the truculent crowd. The miscreants damaged at least 25 BEST buses.
All the shop in the area were shut down immediately. Learning about the incident police commissioner as well as high officials of Crime Branch rushed to the spot in order to take situation under control.
Ministers visited hospitals to the injured and has appealed people to maintain peace. Police personnel in large number are posted at Azad Maidan and as per the police the situation is under control.

Pune Serial Blast, Maharashtra and Delhi on High Alert


Four blasts of low intensity took place in quick succession within a radius of 500 metres of Jangali Maharaj Road.The explosions occurred at spots near Balgandharva Theatre, Dena Bank branch, a McDonald food outlet and Garware bridge. The first explosion went off at Balgandharva Theatre where the suspected bomber was injured. The explosion outside McDonald went off in a dustbin while the blasts near Garware bridge and Dena bank were reported from a cycle which had a bucket with explosives strapped on.
A high alert has been issued in Mumbai, and Delhi following Wednesday’s low-intensity blasts.
he first explosion occurred around 7.30 p.m. near Balgandharva Rang Mandir, an auditorium on JM Road.
The second explosion occurred in a dustbin outside the popular fast food joint McDonald’s. Soon after, the third and fourth blasts went off at Dena Bank and Garware Chowk, in the same vicinity, with the explosive material planted in cycles.
One bomb was exploded by the bomb squad while defusing it whereas another bomb was defused without exploding.
One person was reported injured in the blasts who is also the prime accused behind this serial blasts.
