Civil Hospitals of Surat and Rajkot are flooded with patients


Following the rains there has been an outbreak of diseases such as malaria, cholera, typhoid, etc. in Surat and Rajkot. Dinginess caused by the rains have resulted in this epidemic. Looking at the figures there has been a drastic increase in the number of waterborne disease and those caused by mosquito bites. In civil hospitals of both Surat and Rajkot there was same situation.

Patients who lost vision after Cataract operation seeks justice, Anand


Before a few days it was reported that 9 cataract patients lost their vision after their operation in Ravishankar Eye Hospital, Anand. Patient’s family members claims that any single doctor had not seen in hospital after operation and no one is ready to take responsibility.
A police complaint is now lodged against this after 20 days. This complaint is lodged against 7 doctors and other staff of the hospital. However, police says that they are yet to investigate in the case to reach the core of the entire issue and only after that they will b able to says what caused the loss of vision in these patients.

The new Civil Hospital of Surat gets expensive for patients. The Patients Welfare Association has increased the rates of service provided to the patients. Entire south Gujarat patients rely on this civil hospital and this increase in rates will also increase their troubles. The new price list is imposed in the hospital. Rates have increased tremendously in the hospital.

Neighbour harrasing HIV positive patient detained by police, Ahmedabad


In Vatva region of Ahmadabad two day ago a HIV positive attempted suicide after repeated harassment of neighbors. The victim had lodged complaint against three neighbor. Police has detained one neighbor. However the neighbor is denying the allegations against him.

The victim is also booked for attempting suicide. The victim has threaten suicide that he will immolate himself and his family if he is not given justice as he still fears from his neighbor.

Patients of L G Hospital distressed as the water supply is closed since last two days. The toilets of the hospital are overflowing and stinking this in turn is making patience more ill.

Patients awaits in long Queue at Civil Hospital, Ahmedabad


As a result of strike thousands of patients are suffering since last three days. Because of this they do not get sufficient treatment. They have to wait in long queue for their turn.
On the other hand medical professors claims that despite of three days Government is not paying any attention towards them. Since last two and a half years they have appealed to Government more than 200 times alongwith memorandum. Now these doctors threatened eye donation as their next step if government will not listen to their demands.
But patients suffers a lot because of this. Normally 120-125 operation are done in a day in Civil Hospital and because of the strike only 50 operations were done on 22nd March, 37 operations on 23rd March and only 16 operations were done on the third day of strike. Patients who cannot afford to attain treatment in private hospitals are suffering because of this strike.

Patients suffers due to Continous Strike of doctors, Ahmedabad


As professors of Medical colleges are on strike patients are in poor condition. 2500 medical professors are on indefinite strike. The junior doctors cannot take major decisions in case of emergency without senior doctors. Majority of the operations were cancelled due to the strike. Resident and corporation doctors are not joining this strike as to look after the patients but they have threatened that if the demands will not fulfilled than even they will join the strike.
First junior doctors and now senior doctors, whoever goes on strike, it is the patients who have to pay at the end.

Medical Teachers on Indefinite Strike, Ahmedabad


About 2000 medical teachers went on indefinite strike after call from Gujarat Medical Teachers Association.

GMTA had given the strike call over pay anomalies and disparities alleging that their demands were not met despite repeated representations to the state government.

Ahmedabad Civil Hospital has deployed Junior doctors on duty so that patients do not suffer due to strike.
