No benefit to poor students even after SC upholds RTE Act, Ahmedabad


Supreme Court upheld Right to Education Act in which 25% seats will be reserved for poor students. But it seems that the poor students will not get benefit from this decision of the SC as the admission procedure is already closed in many private school for the current year.

Supreme Court upholds validity of Right to Education Act


Supreme Court upheld constitutional validity of RTE Act. The Act makes it mandatory for private as well as Government schools to reserve 25% seats free for students from economical and social weaker section of the society. The court however, made it clear that the 25% quota would not be applicable to unaided minority institutions.
Accreditation of the schools that will not follow this rule will be cancelled.
