Legendary musician Pandit Ravi Shankar, who was admitted in the Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla for breathing difficulties, passed away in San Diego on Tuesday at the age of 92. Panditji is survived by his wife Sukanya and musician daughters, sitar player Anushka Shankar and singer Norah Jones.
A three-time Grammy award winner, Pandit Ravi Shankar was nominated for a Grammy award for 2013 too.
He was awarded India’s highest civilian honour, the Bharat Ratna, in 1999.
Reacting to the news, Prime Minister Manmohand Singh tweeted, “An era has passed away with Pt. Ravishankar. The nation joins me to pay tributes to his unsurpassable genius, his art and his humility.”
Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi tweeted, “Sitar maestro Pandit Ravi Shankar was the legendary musician who gave new identity to Indian classical music. May his soul rest in peace.”
Filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt said, “Passing away of Ravi Shankar is a great loss to India.”
Lyricist Javed Akhtar said, “Pandit Ravi Shankar introduced Indian classical music to the world.”
The sitar exponent was responsible for making Indian classical music popular in the West and was also India`s musical ambassador.
He had collaborated with several international artists including George Harrison of ‘The Beatles’, which had garnered him fame all over the world.

Palak Dak and Chirag Mehta who are getting married invited residents of old-age home Jeevan Sandhya. The inmates are no relations of theirs. In fact, they didn’t even know them until a few days ago when Palak came to invite them to their marriage.
Tears welled up in many eyes, for some of them had been denied by their sons the pleasure of watching the wedding of their own grandchildren. A fashion designer by training, Palak decided to make her marriage a celebration for those who were forsaken by their families.
The Daks are happy with Palak’s decision and so are her fiancé and his family. They have also decided to pass on to the old age home the money that they receive as traditional chandlo.
Approximately 200 elderly people showered their blessing on Palak Dak and Chirag Mehta.

A young girl injured herself severely as she jumped off from a moving auto she boarded. She was returning from her job while on the way she boarded a sharing auto. There was already a passenger in the auto who started molesting her. When he crossed his limits and tried to rape the girl she jumped off from the auto. The accused man ran away out of fear. However, police has nabbed the auto rickshaw driver and is interrogating him.
Meanwhile the victim is undergoing treatment at a hospital where she was taken by onlookers.

After his 3D speech in 4 cities of Gujarat, CM Narendra Modi plans to take his Hi Tech campaign even more further. This time he will appear in his 3D avatar in 26 places at once. This holographic technology will now include 15 districts of the state.
Modi is well known in his use of technology and has by far been among the first to use the technology to appeal his supporters.
