Despite of ban on mining of sand from River Orsanga of Vadodra Mining Mafia without fear of police and administration are mining sand. Due to sieving of sand from river bed cavities are formed which is affecting the environment of river. Sand from 10 to 12 feet has eroded from Sankheda and Meliya bridge as a result base of bridge is becoming weak. Also due to mining of sand nearby farms are losing fertility.
People are in fear that if heavy rain falls or flood occurs bridge can collapse in future.
