The SIT gave clean chit to Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi in the 2002 Gulbarga Society case on Tuesday April 10.

It has come as big relief for Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi, the Supreme Court-appointed SIT has given him a clean chit in the post-Godhra Gulberg massacre case and sought its closure as it found no evidence against him.

On this Tanivr Zafri son of Zakia Jafri told media that SIT does not have authority to close the case ony court can do that so there is no way that the case has been closed down.

Zakia had filed a complaint against Modi, his ministerial colleagues, top police officials and BJP functionaries accusing them of wider conspiracy in the riots in which more than 1,000 people, mostly Muslims, had been killed.

Next hearing on the case is on May 10.
